Hi, I'm Jennifer! I am a documentary filmmaker, artist, photographer and visual storyteller based in Auckland, New Zealand. My work focuses on the human condition, what it is that unites us - such as our search for home in ourselves, our environments, and each other - as well as our connection to the natural world. I am a lifelong student to motherhood, philosophy & self-development, herbalism & the world of plants, and the Biophilia hypothesis.
My passion for portraiture and storytelling sparked and blossomed over many years of adventure and discovery, beginning as a student of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln photojournalism program, then on to living and teaching in Izmir, Turkey as a U.S. Fulbright grant recipient, and later enrolling in the photojournalism program in Aarhus, Denmark at the Danish school of Media and Journalism where my love for this craft grew even stronger. In 2018 I landed in New Zealand with my partner and we have found our home here, now with our child, amongst the ancient trees and kind Kiwis.
I was 19, with a camera and journal in hand, in the coordinated chaos that is Delhi, India, on a student journalism trip when I knew I had found my true passions - for storytelling, asking questions, digging deeper, finding and following the thread that connects each and every one of us and shining light on the multi-faceted stories and voices that make up the human experience.
I have always been a deep feeler, highly sensitive to the world around me. My hope is to share and create work that reminds us of our inherent connection - to ourselves, to each other, to the world around us, knowing that we are all needed and playing a vital role in our collective evolution.
